EUDR Traceability

Track wood from the forest to the processing plant using RFID technology; already in use and tested in the field of traceability.

A traceability model that connects operators, installed at several customer sites, and improves logistics while meeting the new imperatives of regulation and sustainable management.

29 June 2023: EU regulation

on deforestation-free products.

The process

The operator demonstrates sustainable management that respects the current and future use of the plot.

Thanks to this system, he can visualise the various logistical stages from forest to sawmill and centralise all the information linked to the traceability of the wood geolocated on the management platform.

RFID stapled tags

RFID tags are designed to withstand the outdoor environment and are very useful for creating logs.

The tags are supplied in rolls of 2,000 and are very easy to affix and staple. The tags have been carefully selected to match the risk of impact between logs.

Detection gates

Forestry tags

Long-range antennae can be used to link tag reading to an automatic event. In the traceability system, the sawyer places an antenna at the point where the log is processed in order to detect when it leaves the stock.

It is possible to install a log entry gate on site, which scans all the logs loaded onto a lorry.

Stapler

A good stapler with a 10 mm staple reservoir is perfect for applying RFID tags. Two staples should be placed on the ends of the tag to ensure a secure hold.

It can be supplied as part of the traceability package if required.

The material

Forestry labels are equipped with RFID technology.

The way in which they are affixed to the logs does not change habits.

They are produced by a French company with expertise in the creation of radio frequency chips for all types of circumstances. The security provided by this European partner in data processing and chip production makes it an ideal partner for traceability.

Android Tablet equiped with UHF reader (RFID)

Juniper Systems' Cedar Android tablet offers an upgrade in durability and performance when a consumer tablet just won't cut it. Designed for all-day use in any environment, the CT8X2 offers impressive processing power running on an Androi™ operating system.

The CT8X2 offers accurate GPS positioning for location-based data collection. While consumer tablets produce accuracy of 3 to 10 metres, the CT8X2 achieves accuracy of 1 metre in open terrain and 5 metres in dense forest.
